Turning around you enjoy the scenic view across the Aegean Sea, in a lush terraced garden above the grand Butterfly Valley.

Our spacious property, a garden of greenery and water, provides many spaces to relax. Enjoy summer in the natural shade of wine grapes, at our swimming pool or on one of our verandas. Go for a stroll, marvel on the rich flora and fauna and look down at the idylic village “Faralya”.

Thank you very much for your interest. Due to an imminent change of ownership, the "Water Mill" is currently not in operation.

Our boutique hotel “Die Wassermühle” (the Watermill) combines the advantages of modern comfort with the charm and the timeless beauty of country living. On the property of a historic watermill, all buildings were constructed in the local style, using raw stones and wood from the region. Thus the rooms stay cool even in summer, no need for air-condition. Our comfortable and spacious suites are individually furnished and all have their own entrance an terrace or balcony.

Our property accomodates 18-22 guests in 9 suites and double rooms. All rooms are equiped with bathroom/toilet, refrigerator, water kettle, dishes, tea, hairdryers and towels.

Our prices

Our spacious garden property measures 5000 m2 with plenty of room for undisturbed solitude on our wine-overgrown terraces with a view on the Aegean Sea. Die orange-, fig-, pomgrenade- and lemontrees provide more shade on hot summer days. A traditional Turkish diwan invites you to spend time at our pool or on our terraces.

The creek of the historic watermill is fed from the high peaks of the Taurus mountain range. On its underground journey it picks up minerals and micronutrients before it surfaces again in the garden of our property. After bubbling through our hotel garden it flows through a sofisticated historic system of canals to the farmers of Faralya. There the water is utilized for irrigation of fields and gardens. The water for our spring-water swimming pool is only “borrowed” for a short while before it’s fed back into the village irrigation system. The pool is cleaned regularly and then filled again with fresh spring water.

Healthy, organic and regional – these are the principles of our cuisine. Enjoy delicious water from our own spring. Our choice of ingredients emphasizes origin and quality of all produce. Farmers from the neighborhood provide us with sun-ripened fruit, fresh vegetables, herbs and pine honey. The olive oil comes from our own orchard. Everyday we bake fresh bread and toast.

In the morning you start your day with a typical regional breakfast buffet with fruit, vegetables from Faralya as well as self-baked bread, home-made jam, eggs, goat cheese etc. Furthermore we serve muesli with fresh seasonal fruit.

In the evening you enjoy a six-course dinner on our candle-lit terrace – with a view on the sun setting over the Aegean Sea. We serve sophisticated dishes from Turkish cuisine – meat, vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, it’s your choice. Alongside the food we recommend cool spring water, Turkish wines or beer, freshly squeezed juices or home-made lemonade.

About Us

In 1997, Ferruh and I gave up our organic hotel in Fethiye and established “Die Wassermühle” with traditional building techniques from natural stones. Built with materials from the region (rock, wood, travertine and shale), the houses in a 5000 m2 garden merge harmonically with the surrounding landscape.

We kept the original name of this magical location because this was the place where the villagers of Faralya had run a watermill (Su Degirmeni) for many centuries. Today this magnificants spot is a space of tranquility and comfort.

Out of Ferruh’s passion for wood, a studio for furniture and the restauration of historic homes was established in Fethiye. Both of us work in different fields for the same goals: sustainability for men and nature.

Our staff

Meeting all wishes and requests of our guests is a central principle of our hotel. Our staff contribute a great share to this aim. All our employees come from our village “Faralya” and all still work with us until today! For all their position at “Die Wassermühle” has been their first experience working outside their traditional subsistence farming lifestyle. Cultivation of vegetables, lemons, oranges, olives, bee-hives and goat-herding have previously been their only source of income.

During their tenure at “Die Wassermühle” all our staff have gained valuable knowledge and skills. Among others these include master craftsman’s diplomas, training privileges and skills in language, computer literacy and work organization.
