Hotel

Accommodation (self-catering)

“Die Wassermühle” (the Watermill) combines the advantages of modern comfort with the charm and the timeless beauty of country living. On the property of a historic watermill, all buildings were constructed in the local style, using raw stones and wood from the region. Thus the rooms stay cool even in summer, no need for air-condition. Our comfortable and spacious apartments are individually furnished and all have their own entrance an terrace or balcony.

Our property accommodates 14-16 guests in 5 apartments and 2 double rooms. All rooms are equipped with bathroom/toilet, refrigerator, water kettle, dishes, tea, hairdryers and towels. The apartments also have a small kitchen for preparing breakfast and simple dishes.

Garden with spring-water swimming pool

Our spacious garden property measures 5000 m² with plenty of room for undisturbed solitude on our wine-overgrown terraces with a view on the Aegean Sea. Die orange-, fig-, pomgrenade- and lemontrees provide more shade on hot summer days. A traditional Turkish diwan invites you to spend time at our pool or on our terraces.

The creek of the historic watermill is fed from the high peaks of the Taurus mountain range. On its underground journey it picks up minerals and micronutrients before it surfaces again in the garden of our property. After bubbling through our hotel garden it flows through a sophisticated historic system of canals to the farmers of Faralya. There the water is utilized for irrigation of fields and gardens.

The water for our spring-water swimming pool is only “borrowed” for a short while before it’s fed back into the village irrigation system. The pool is cleaned regularly and then filled again with fresh spring water.

About Us

In 1997, Ferruh and I gave up our organic hotel in Fethiye and established “Die Wassermühle” with traditional building techniques from natural stones. Built with materials from the region (rock, wood, travertine and shale), the houses in a 5000 m² garden merge harmonically with the surrounding landscape.

We kept the original name of this magical location because this was the place where the villagers of Faralya had run a watermill (Su Degirmeni) for many centuries. Today this magnificants spot is a space of tranquility and comfort.

Out of Ferruh’s passion for wood, a studio for furniture and the restauration of historic homes was established in Fethiye. Both of us work in different fields for the same goals: sustainability for men and nature.
